Comfortable Dentistry, On Your Terms
A supportive approach to managing dental fear
Four approaches to a relaxed dental visit
Choosing the right level of comfort
| Concern | Best Starting Point |
|---|---|
| Mild Nervousness | If you just need to take the edge off during a routine cleaning or filling, Nitrous Oxide provides quick relaxation and still allows you to drive yourself home. |
| Moderate Anxiety or Longer Appointments | If you struggle to sit comfortably for extended periods, Oral Sedation provides a deep, drowsy relaxation (requires a driver). |
| Significant Phobia or Complex Surgery | For extractions, implants, or severe fear, IV Sedation provides the deepest level of monitored, conscious sedation with minimal memory of the procedure. |
| General Avoidance of Care | Start with an evaluation for Dental Anxiety Relief to discuss your fears openly and build a custom comfort plan before any tools are picked up. |

Frequently Asked Questions About Sedation
Will I be completely unconscious?
No. We utilize “conscious sedation.” Even under deep IV sedation, you will be able to breathe autonomously and respond to instructions, though you will likely have very little memory of the appointment.
Can I drive myself home?
If you receive Nitrous Oxide, yes. If you receive Oral Sedation or IV Sedation, you are strictly required by law to have a responsible adult drive you to and from the clinic.
Will I still get numbed with a needle?
Yes, local anesthetic is still required to block pain. However, we typically administer the numbing medication after the sedation has taken full effect, so you are completely relaxed first.
Is dental sedation safe?
Yes. When administered by a trained clinical team following strict medical history reviews and continuous monitoring protocols, dental sedation has an excellent safety record.
